In value terms, artificial staple fibre exports contracted to $X in 2021. Overall, exports continue to indicate a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 20%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
China dominates exports structure, accounting for X tons, which was approx. 90% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Indonesia (X tons), committing a 5.7% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to artificial staple fibre exports from China stood at -5.7%. At the same time, Indonesia (+1.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Indonesia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +1.5% from 2012-2021. While the share of Indonesia (+2.7 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest artificial staple fibre supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising 88% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Indonesia ($X), with a 3.7% share of total exports.
In China, artificial staple fibre exports declined by an average annual rate of -7.5% over the period from 2012-2021.

The export price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 6.3% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the export price increased by 21%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2021, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while Indonesia stood at $X per ton.

In 2021, imports of artificial staple fibres in Asia-Pacific skyrocketed to X tons, jumping by 34% against the previous year's figure. Overall, imports recorded pronounced growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 60% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Democratic People's Republic of Korea (X tons) was the largest importer of artificial staple fibres, mixing up 46% of total imports. It was distantly followed by China (X tons) and Bangladesh (X tons), together generating a 35% share of total imports. India (X tons), Cambodia (X tons), New Zealand (X tons) and South Korea (X tons) took a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Democratic People's Republic of Korea (with a CAGR of +85.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest artificial staple fibre importing markets in Asia-Pacific were China ($X), Democratic People's Republic of Korea ($X) and Bangladesh ($X), with a combined 67% share of total imports.
Democratic People's Republic of Korea, with a CAGR of +70.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 8.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a abrupt downturn. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while Democratic People's Republic of Korea ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
