In value terms, China ($X), Japan ($X) and the Philippines ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 87% share of total exports. Singapore, India and Taiwan (Chinese) lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 10%.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Taiwan (Chinese), with a CAGR of +8.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the export price increased by 32% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+16.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, purchases abroad of band saw blades was finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per ton), while Indonesia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
