After two years of growth, overseas shipments of blood-grouping reagents decreased by -15.2% to X tons in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a temperate expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 98% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, blood-grouping reagents exports dropped markedly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a remarkable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 73% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then dropped sharply in the following year.
Exports by Country
India (X tons) and South Korea (X tons) represented roughly 63% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Singapore (X tons), China (X tons), Australia (X tons) and Hong Kong SAR (X tons), together creating a 30% share of total exports. Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Hong Kong SAR (with a CAGR of +17.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest blood-grouping reagents supplying countries in Asia-Pacific were India ($X), South Korea ($X) and Singapore ($X), with a combined 71% share of total exports.
South Korea, with a CAGR of +23.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -2% against the previous year. Export price indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, blood-grouping reagents export price decreased by -6.0% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 37%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+7.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Asia-Pacific
In 2022, the amount of blood-grouping reagents imported in Asia-Pacific dropped modestly to X tons, which is down by -2% against 2021 figures. Total imports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +5.7% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 39%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, blood-grouping reagents imports contracted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 53%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2021, and then declined in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, China (X tons) was the key importer of blood-grouping reagents, generating 41% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Japan (X tons), Thailand (X tons), the Philippines (X tons) and India (X tons), together achieving a 35% share of total imports. Singapore (X tons), Australia (X tons), Indonesia (X tons), Vietnam (X tons), South Korea (X tons), Hong Kong SAR (X tons) and Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into China increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Vietnam (+19.8%), Hong Kong SAR (+11.8%), Taiwan (Chinese) (+8.7%), Thailand (+8.4%), India (+7.1%), South Korea (+6.5%), Singapore (+5.9%), Japan (+5.1%), the Philippines (+5.0%) and Indonesia (+4.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Vietnam emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +19.8% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Australia (-7.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of China, Thailand and Vietnam increased by +6.1, +2.4 and +1.8 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported blood-grouping reagents in Asia-Pacific, comprising 46% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Japan ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by India, with a 6.6% share.
In China, blood-grouping reagents imports expanded at an average annual rate of +8.9% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Japan (+1.1% per year) and India (+6.5% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per ton in 2022, declining by -3.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the import price increased by 12%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2021, and then shrank slightly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while the Philippines ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
