In value terms, exports of boards, sheets, panels, tiles and similar articles of plaster faced with paper contracted slightly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 31%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports of remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per square meter), while Japan ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+2.1%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Asia-Pacific
In 2021, supplies from abroad of boards, sheets, panels, tiles and similar articles of plaster faced with paper was finally on the rise to reach X square meters for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Total imports indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -37.0% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 19% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X square meters in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Total imports indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -26.0% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 17% against the previous year. Imports into India increased at an average annual rate of +17.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Nepal (+28.7%), New Zealand (+15.7%), Malaysia (+10.4%) and Cambodia (+8.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Nepal emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +28.7% from 2012-2021. Singapore and Hong Kong SAR experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, India ($X), Cambodia ($X) and Singapore ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 40% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Hong Kong SAR, Nepal, Vietnam, New Zealand, the Philippines and Malaysia, which together accounted for a further 37%.
Nepal, with a CAGR of +30.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per square meter in 2021, picking up by 3.3% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.1%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the import price increased by 6.8% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Nepal ($X per square meter), while Malaysia ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
