In value terms, breathing appliances exports reduced to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a noticeable increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -27.0% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 136%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. China represented the largest exporting country with an export of about X units, which amounted to 56% of total exports. Taiwan (Chinese) (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by South Korea (X units) and Singapore (X units). All these countries together took near 31% share of total exports. Malaysia (X units), Japan (X units) and Hong Kong SAR (X units) held a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to breathing appliances exports from China stood at +1.0%. At the same time, Singapore (+6.4%), Taiwan (Chinese) (+4.4%), South Korea (+2.7%), Japan (+2.0%) and Malaysia (+1.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Singapore emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +6.4% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Hong Kong SAR (-6.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Taiwan (Chinese) (+3 p.p.) and Singapore (+2.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Hong Kong SAR (-2.3 p.p.) and China (-4.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X), Singapore ($X) and Taiwan (Chinese) ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 67% share of total exports.

Among the main exporting countries, Singapore, with a CAGR of +10.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per unit, waning by -4.9% against the previous year. Export price indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, breathing appliances export price increased by +4.4% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the export price increased by 73%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Hong Kong SAR (X units), Thailand (X units), Vietnam (X units), Taiwan (Chinese) (X units), the Philippines (X units) and Bangladesh (X units) held a little share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Bangladesh (with a CAGR of +26.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest breathing appliances importing markets in Asia-Pacific were Singapore ($X), China ($X) and Australia ($X), with a combined 59% share of total imports. South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong SAR, Taiwan (Chinese), the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia and Bangladesh lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 32%.

The Philippines, with a CAGR of +21.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per unit in 2022, jumping by 21% against the previous year. Import price indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, breathing appliances import price increased by +88.8% against 2014 indices. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
