The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, non-wheat cereal pellets exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, exports saw a perceptible expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 123%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Australia was the major exporter of cereal pellets (excluding wheat) in Asia-Pacific, with the volume of exports resulting at X tons, which was near 44% of total exports in 2021. New Zealand (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 27% share, followed by India (13%) and China (13%).
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by New Zealand (with a CAGR of +68.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest non-wheat cereal pellets supplying countries in Asia-Pacific were New Zealand ($X), China ($X) and Australia ($X), with a combined 76% share of total exports.
In terms of the main exporting countries, New Zealand, with a CAGR of +60.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 14% against the previous year. Export price indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, non-wheat cereal pellets export price increased by +59.3% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 40% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while Australia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in Asia-Pacific
In 2021, overseas purchases of cereal pellets (excluding wheat) were finally on the rise to reach X tons after three years of decline. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 342%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, non-wheat cereal pellets imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports posted measured growth. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Japan was the largest importing country with an import of about X tons, which finished at 35% of total imports. New Zealand (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 19% share, followed by Singapore (16%), Myanmar (9.7%), Australia (7.5%) and the Philippines (5.6%). India (X tons) took a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Australia (with a CAGR of +57.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Japan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported cereal pellets (excluding wheat) in Asia-Pacific, comprising 45% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Singapore ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by Australia, with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Japan totaled +19.0%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Singapore (+14.5% per year) and Australia (+68.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per ton, rising by 8.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 154% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while New Zealand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
