In 2021, China (X tons) represented the major exporter of chlorides (excluding ammonium chloride), generating 78% of total exports. It was distantly followed by India (X tons), comprising a 15% share of total exports. Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to chlorides exports from China stood at +3.7%. At the same time, India (+14.1%) and Taiwan (Chinese) (+8.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 26% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Japan (X tons), followed by India (X tons), Thailand (X tons), Malaysia (X tons), Indonesia (X tons), Vietnam (X tons), Singapore (X tons), Hong Kong SAR (X tons), Australia (X tons) and New Zealand (X tons) were the key importers of chlorides (excluding ammonium chloride), together committing 85% of total imports. The Philippines (X tons) held a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Vietnam (with a CAGR of +20.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Japan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported chlorides (excluding ammonium chloride) in Asia-Pacific, comprising 20% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by India ($X), with an 8.8% share of total imports. It was followed by Indonesia, with a 5.4% share.
