Malaysia dominates exports structure, resulting at X tons, which was near 86% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Singapore (X tons), committing a 6.5% share of total exports. The following exporters - Japan (X tons), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) and China (X tons) - each resulted at a 5.6% share of total exports.
Exports from Malaysia increased at an average annual rate of +51.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Singapore (+76.3%), Taiwan (Chinese) (+8.4%) and Japan (+2.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Singapore emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +76.3% from 2012-2021. China experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Malaysia and Singapore increased by +66 and +6.1 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, Malaysia ($X) remains the largest copper powder supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising 62% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Singapore ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Japan, with a 10% share.
In Malaysia, copper powder exports increased at an average annual rate of +46.0% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Singapore (+82.8% per year) and Japan (+2.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per ton, surging by 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 33% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

After three years of growth, overseas purchases of copper powders and flakes decreased by -65% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a moderate increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 208% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then declined remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, copper powder imports contracted markedly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 135%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then shrank markedly in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Singapore (X tons) represented the main importer of copper powders and flakes, committing 38% of total imports. China (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 16% share, followed by Taiwan (Chinese) (9.1%), Thailand (8.5%), South Korea (7.1%) and Malaysia (5.5%). Japan (X tons) took a little share of total imports.
Singapore was also the fastest-growing in terms of the copper powders and flakes imports, with a CAGR of +21.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Malaysia (+20.4%), China (+9.6%) and Taiwan (Chinese) (+2.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Japan (-9.9%), Thailand (-10.3%) and South Korea (-10.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Singapore ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported copper powders and flakes in Asia-Pacific, comprising 39% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by China ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Taiwan (Chinese), with an 11% share.
In Singapore, copper powder imports expanded at an average annual rate of +25.8% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+5.3% per year) and Taiwan (Chinese) (+5.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 81% against the previous year. Import price indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per ton), while Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
