Malaysia (-2.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Australia (+2.3 p.p.) and India (+1.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, India ($X) remains the largest couscous supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising 92% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Malaysia ($X), with a 3.8% share of total exports.
In India, couscous exports decreased by an average annual rate of -7.1% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Malaysia (+2.5% per year) and Australia (0.0% per year).

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2020, and then contracted slightly in the following year.

Australia was the largest importer of couscous in Asia-Pacific, with the volume of imports accounting for X tons, which was approx. 52% of total imports in 2021. In terms of the main importing countries, India, with a CAGR of +17.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 4.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a slight decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the import price increased by 9.4% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
