The total production indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the last decade. After five years of growth, overseas shipments of domestic electric toasters decreased by -31.1% to X units in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 34% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2021, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, domestic toaster exports reduced dramatically to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 28%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then shrank remarkably in the following year.

The shipments of the one major exporters of domestic electric toasters, namely China, represented more than two-thirds of total export.

China experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of domestic electric toasters. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) also remains the largest domestic toaster supplier in Asia-Pacific.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 24%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2017 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for China.

Imports in Asia-Pacific

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of domestic electric toasters, when their volume decreased by -26.7% to X units. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 23% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units, and then contracted sharply in the following year.

In value terms, domestic toaster imports reduced rapidly to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated mild growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 27% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then fell remarkably in the following year.

Imports by Country

Japan represented the main importer of domestic electric toasters in Asia-Pacific, with the volume of imports recording X units, which was near 49% of total imports in 2022. Australia (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by India (X units) and Malaysia (X units). All these countries together took near 32% share of total imports. South Korea (X units), New Zealand (X units) and Thailand (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Japan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of domestic electric toasters. At the same time, Malaysia (+3.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Malaysia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +3.0% from 2012-2022. New Zealand, South Korea and Australia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, India (-1.2%) and Thailand (-3.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Japan and Malaysia increased by +5 and +1.5 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Japan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported domestic electric toasters in Asia-Pacific, comprising 50% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Australia ($X), with a 20% share of total imports. It was followed by India, with a 7% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Japan totaled +2.2%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Australia (+2.3% per year) and India (+1.3% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per unit in 2022, rising by 6.7% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.3%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the import price increased by 11%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($X per unit), while Thailand ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+3.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
