In 2022, overseas shipments of flat panel video monitor, lcd or plasma increased by 4.7% to X units, rising for the fourth consecutive year after two years of decline. Total exports indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +23.4% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 30% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, LCDs and plasmas exports rose remarkably to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 22% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
China dominates exports structure, reaching X units, which was approx. 63% of total exports in 2022. Thailand (X units) took an 8.5% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Hong Kong SAR (7.1%) and Vietnam (4.5%). The following exporters - Malaysia (X units), Japan (X units) and Singapore (X units) - each finished at a 9.7% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to LCDs and plasmas exports from China stood at +2.0%. At the same time, Vietnam (+43.6%), Hong Kong SAR (+9.7%), Malaysia (+6.5%), Singapore (+6.3%) and Thailand (+4.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Vietnam emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +43.6% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Japan (-3.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Vietnam (+4.4 p.p.) and Hong Kong SAR (+3.3 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Japan and China saw its share reduced by -3.1% and -7.3% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest LCDs and plasmas supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising 64% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Thailand ($X), with a 7.3% share of total exports. It was followed by Japan, with a 4.9% share.
In China, LCDs and plasmas exports expanded at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Thailand (+7.1% per year) and Japan (-4.0% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per unit in 2022, rising by 2.3% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 11%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per unit), while Hong Kong SAR ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+11.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Asia-Pacific
In 2022, imports of flat panel video monitor, lcd or plasma in Asia-Pacific stood at X units, stabilizing at the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 42%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, LCDs and plasmas imports fell to $X in 2022. In general, imports recorded prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 28%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

Thailand was the largest importing country with an import of around X units, which amounted to 47% of total imports. Japan (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with an 8.5% share, followed by Singapore (7.8%), Malaysia (6.9%) and Hong Kong SAR (6.2%). The following importers - Vietnam (X units), Taiwan (Chinese) (X units), Australia (X units), India (X units) and Indonesia (X units) - together made up 19% of total imports.
Imports into Thailand increased at an average annual rate of +19.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Vietnam (+58.1%), Indonesia (+34.9%), Malaysia (+32.6%), India (+16.6%), Singapore (+12.0%), Taiwan (Chinese) (+6.9%) and Australia (+3.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Vietnam emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +58.1% from 2012-2022. Hong Kong SAR experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Japan (-3.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Thailand (+25 p.p.), Malaysia (+5.8 p.p.), Vietnam (+4.3 p.p.), Indonesia (+2 p.p.) and India (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Taiwan (Chinese) (-1.8 p.p.), Australia (-3.7 p.p.), Hong Kong SAR (-10 p.p.) and Japan (-23.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest LCDs and plasmas importing markets in Asia-Pacific were Vietnam ($X), Taiwan (Chinese) ($X) and Thailand ($X), with a combined 43% share of total imports.
Vietnam, with a CAGR of +55.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per unit, falling by -5.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 15%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
