The Asia-Pacific market for fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodines shrank modestly to $X in 2021, reducing by -2.9% against the previous year. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

The level of production peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, production remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, exports of fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodines in Asia-Pacific reached X tons, picking up by 7.2% compared with 2020 figures. Overall, exports recorded a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 32%. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine exports reached $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +71.2% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when exports increased by 15%. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
In 2021, Thailand (X tons), Singapore (X tons) and India (X tons) represented the key exporter of fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodines in Asia-Pacific, achieving 71% of total export. It was distantly followed by Japan (X tons) and Bangladesh (X tons), together constituting a 17% share of total exports. The following exporters - Australia (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons) - together made up 7% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Singapore (with a CAGR of +35.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Japan ($X) remains the largest fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising 64% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by India ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Singapore, with a 3.3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Japan amounted to +3.0%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: India (+24.2% per year) and Singapore (+21.9% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 6.3% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a noticeable decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 30% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while Bangladesh ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in Asia-Pacific
In 2021, fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine imports in Asia-Pacific stood at X tons, rising by 12% on the year before. Overall, imports saw a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 46%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
In value terms, fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine imports surged to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +109.6% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 34% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
China was the key importing country with an import of about X tons, which finished at 51% of total imports. The Philippines (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by India (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons). All these countries together took near 34% share of total imports. The following importers - Lao People's Democratic Republic (X tons) and Singapore (X tons) - each finished at a 5.7% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine imports into China stood at +10.9%. At the same time, Lao People's Democratic Republic (+42.7%), Malaysia (+30.0%), Singapore (+5.8%), India (+4.5%) and the Philippines (+1.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Lao People's Democratic Republic emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +42.7% from 2012-2021. While the share of China (+11 p.p.), Malaysia (+8.4 p.p.) and Lao People's Democratic Republic (+2.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of India (-3.7 p.p.) and the Philippines (-8.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodines in Asia-Pacific, comprising 67% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by India ($X), with a 21% share of total imports. It was followed by Singapore, with a 2.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in China amounted to +5.8%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: India (-1.4% per year) and Singapore (+20.7% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 4.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the import price increased by 11% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while the Philippines ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
