Frozen Lobster Market Size in Asia-Pacific
The Asia-Pacific frozen lobster market rose notably to $X in 2022, surging by 9.6% against the previous year. The total consumption indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, consumption increased by +14.2% against 2020 indices. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, frozen lobster production reached $X in 2022 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 16%. The level of production peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, production failed to regain momentum.

Exports in Asia-Pacific
In 2022, after five years of decline, there was significant growth in shipments abroad of frozen lobster, when their volume increased by 15% to X tons. Overall, exports, however, showed a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 263% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, frozen lobster exports surged to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a deep slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 237% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Pakistan (X tons), distantly followed by Indonesia (X tons), Hong Kong SAR (X tons), Malaysia (X tons), Singapore (X tons), China (X tons), India (X tons) and Myanmar (X tons) represented the key exporters of frozen lobster, together generating 93% of total exports.
Pakistan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of frozen lobster. At the same time, Myanmar (+17.9%), Malaysia (+15.0%) and Indonesia (+10.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Myanmar emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +17.9% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Singapore (-3.5%), Hong Kong SAR (-15.3%), China (-20.4%) and India (-25.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Pakistan (+22 p.p.), Indonesia (+13 p.p.), Malaysia (+8.9 p.p.), Singapore (+5.3 p.p.) and Myanmar (+4.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Hong Kong SAR, China and India saw its share reduced by -5.6%, -13.7% and -33.3% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, Pakistan ($X), Singapore ($X) and Indonesia ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together comprising 52% of total exports. Hong Kong SAR, Malaysia, China, India and Myanmar lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 38%.
Among the main exporting countries, Malaysia, with a CAGR of +20.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per ton, rising by 8.1% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.6%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 37% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while Pakistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Pakistan (+7.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, frozen lobster imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +43.0% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 35% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2022, China (X tons), South Korea (X tons) and Japan (X tons) was the key importer of frozen lobster in Asia-Pacific, creating 66% of total import. Hong Kong SAR (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 9.5% share, followed by Singapore (5.9%), Taiwan (Chinese) (5.2%) and Australia (4.9%).
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for South Korea (with a CAGR of +18.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, South Korea ($X), China ($X) and Japan ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 66% share of total imports. Hong Kong SAR, Singapore, Australia and Taiwan (Chinese) lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 27%.
Taiwan (Chinese), with a CAGR of +23.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per ton in 2022, surging by 11% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.3%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 15%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in Japan ($X per ton) and Hong Kong SAR ($X per ton), while Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per ton) and China ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hong Kong SAR (+7.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
