The Asia-Pacific furnace burner market fell to $X in 2021, dropping by -10.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption continues to indicate a slight downturn. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.
Furnace Burner Production in Asia-Pacific
In value terms, furnace burner production expanded remarkably to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, saw a perceptible decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the production volume increased by 21%. As a result, production attained the peak level of $X. From 2017 to 2021, production growth remained at a lower figure.

Exports in Asia-Pacific
In 2021, overseas shipments of furnace burners, mechanical stokers, mechanical grates and mechanical ash dischargers decreased by -7.9% to X tons, falling for the fourth consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports showed a deep setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 21%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, furnace burner exports reduced notably to $X in 2021. Overall, exports recorded a perceptible descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
China prevails in exports structure, accounting for X tons, which was near 73% of total exports in 2021. India (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 9.5% share, followed by Taiwan (Chinese) (5.2%). South Korea (X tons) and Japan (X tons) held a minor share of total exports.
Exports from China decreased at an average annual rate of -7.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, India (+10.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, India emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +10.4% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Taiwan (Chinese) (-2.7%), South Korea (-8.5%) and Japan (-11.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of India (+7.2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Japan (-2.1 p.p.) and China (-6.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest furnace burner supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising 61% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Japan ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by South Korea, with an 8.2% share.
In China, furnace burner exports decreased by an average annual rate of -1.0% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Japan (-11.5% per year) and South Korea (-1.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per ton in 2021, declining by -15.7% against the previous year. Export price indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, furnace burner export price increased by +36.8% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the export price increased by 54% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then shrank markedly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+7.6%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.
Furnace Burner Imports
Imports in Asia-Pacific
In 2021, supplies from abroad of furnace burners, mechanical stokers, mechanical grates and mechanical ash dischargers decreased by -51.3% to X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a tangible increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 62%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2020, and then declined remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, furnace burner imports contracted significantly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a pronounced decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 30%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Indonesia represented the largest importer of furnace burners, mechanical stokers, mechanical grates and mechanical ash dischargers in Asia-Pacific, with the volume of imports reaching X tons, which was approx. 55% of total imports in 2021. China (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 14% share, followed by Malaysia (6.9%). South Korea (X tons), India (X tons), Japan (X tons), Pakistan (X tons), Vietnam (X tons), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) and Thailand (X tons) took a little share of total imports.
Imports into Indonesia increased at an average annual rate of +13.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Pakistan (+23.2%), Japan (+10.2%) and Malaysia (+2.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Pakistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +23.2% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Thailand (-1.1%), South Korea (-3.3%), India (-4.2%), China (-7.3%), Taiwan (Chinese) (-9.8%) and Vietnam (-11.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Indonesia (+33 p.p.) and Pakistan (+1.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of India (-2.7 p.p.), South Korea (-2.9 p.p.), Taiwan (Chinese) (-3.9 p.p.), Vietnam (-5.1 p.p.) and China (-19.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported furnace burners, mechanical stokers, mechanical grates and mechanical ash dischargers in Asia-Pacific, comprising 35% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Indonesia ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by South Korea, with an 8.7% share.
In China, furnace burner imports contracted by an average annual rate of -6.8% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Indonesia (+4.1% per year) and South Korea (-4.2% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 29% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a pronounced contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 52%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while Indonesia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
