China prevails in stone structure, accounting for X tons, which was near 89% of total imports in 2021. The following importers - Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), Bangladesh (X tons), Maldives (X tons) and Hong Kong SAR (X tons) - together made up 8.7% of total imports.
Imports into China increased at an average annual rate of +7.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Bangladesh (+50.6%), Maldives (+6.7%) and Taiwan (Chinese) (+5.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Bangladesh emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +50.6% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Hong Kong SAR (-3.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of China, Bangladesh and Taiwan (Chinese) increased by +54, +2.1 and +1.8 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported granite, sandstone and other building stone in Asia-Pacific, comprising 91% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Bangladesh ($X), with a 1.5% share of total imports. It was followed by Hong Kong SAR, with a 1.4% share.
In China, imports of granite, sandstone and other building stone expanded at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Bangladesh (+45.2% per year) and Hong Kong SAR (-5.3% per year).
