Total exports indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, grape juice (single strength) exports surged to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +65.4% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 85%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
Exports by Country
Australia dominates exports structure, resulting at X tons, which was near 73% of total exports in 2021. Thailand (X tons) took a 6.3% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by China (6.3%). The following exporters - Malaysia (X tons), Vietnam (X tons) and Japan (X tons) - together made up 11% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to grape juice (single strength) exports from Australia stood at +7.3%. At the same time, Thailand (+38.0%), Vietnam (+26.4%) and Japan (+23.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Thailand emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +38.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, China (-2.9%) and Malaysia (-13.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Australia (+23 p.p.), Thailand (+5.9 p.p.), Vietnam (+3.6 p.p.) and Japan (+1.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of China (-4.4 p.p.) and Malaysia (-16.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Australia ($X) remains the largest grape juice (single strength) supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising 85% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Japan ($X), with a 3.4% share of total exports. It was followed by China, with a 2.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Australia stood at +12.1%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Japan (+15.4% per year) and China (-1.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 8.2% against the previous year. Export price indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, grape juice (single strength) export price increased by +61.9% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the export price increased by 26% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while Thailand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, approx. X tons of grape juice (single strength) were imported in Asia-Pacific; picking up by 27% compared with 2020. Overall, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 27%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, grape juice (single strength) imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

China dominates imports structure, reaching X tons, which was approx. 60% of total imports in 2021. Japan (X tons) took an 8.7% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by South Korea (6.7%). New Zealand (X tons), Singapore (X tons), Indonesia (X tons), Thailand (X tons), Malaysia (X tons), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
China was also the fastest-growing in terms of the grape juice (single strength) imports, with a CAGR of +22.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Vietnam (+4.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Indonesia and South Korea experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Thailand (-3.4%), New Zealand (-5.4%), Japan (-5.8%), Taiwan (Chinese) (-7.3%), Singapore (-7.5%) and Malaysia (-12.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of China (+50 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Taiwan (Chinese) (-1.9 p.p.), New Zealand (-2.5 p.p.), Singapore (-3.1 p.p.), Malaysia (-5 p.p.) and Japan (-7.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported grape juice (single strength) in Asia-Pacific, comprising 49% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Japan ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by South Korea, with a 6.9% share.
In China, grape juice (single strength) imports expanded at an average annual rate of +12.2% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Japan (-2.7% per year) and South Korea (+0.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per ton, growing by 3.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 22%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+7.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
