In value terms, gummed paper exports soared to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, China (X tons), distantly followed by India (X tons), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), South Korea (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons) represented the major exporters of gummed paper and paperboard (excluding self-adhesives), together committing 89% of total exports. Japan (X tons) and Singapore (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

In general, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 16%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, gummed paper imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

The Philippines (X tons) and India (X tons) were the key importers of gummed paper and paperboard (excluding self-adhesives) in 2021, amounting to near 33% and 23% of total imports, respectively. Indonesia (X tons) took an 8.2% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Vietnam (5.2%). Thailand (X tons), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), South Korea (X tons), Malaysia (X tons), Myanmar (X tons), Australia (X tons), Sri Lanka (X tons), Singapore (X tons) and China (X tons) took a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Myanmar (with a CAGR of +32.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest gummed paper importing markets in Asia-Pacific were the Philippines ($X), India ($X) and Indonesia ($X), together accounting for 41% of total imports.

The Philippines, with a CAGR of +26.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 16% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern.
