In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest hardboard supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising 58% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Thailand ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Malaysia, with a 15% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in China totaled -5.9%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Thailand (+4.9% per year) and Malaysia (+16.0% per year).

The export price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per cubic meter in 2022, surging by 6.2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a slight slump. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per cubic meter in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per cubic meter), while Australia ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 32%. The volume of import peaked at X cubic meters in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, hardboard imports declined to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 41%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Australia (X cubic meters), distantly followed by India (X cubic meters), Vietnam (X cubic meters), China (X cubic meters), South Korea (X cubic meters), Malaysia (X cubic meters) and Taiwan (Chinese) (X cubic meters) represented the key importers of hardboard, together mixing up 82% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Malaysia (with a CAGR of +18.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Australia ($X), India ($X) and China ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 54% share of total imports. Vietnam, South Korea, Taiwan (Chinese) and Malaysia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 30%.
Vietnam, with a CAGR of +13.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per cubic meter in 2022, approximately equating the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a slight setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 6.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per cubic meter in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per cubic meter), while Malaysia ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
