As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
India dominates exports structure, finishing at X tons, which was near 50% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Singapore (X tons), Pakistan (X tons), Thailand (X tons), China (X tons), Japan (X tons) and South Korea (X tons), together making up a 40% share of total exports.
Exports from India increased at an average annual rate of +7.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Singapore (+17.0%), Thailand (+6.6%) and China (+3.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Singapore emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +17.0% from 2012-2021. Japan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Pakistan (-4.9%) and South Korea (-17.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of India, Singapore, Thailand and China increased by +25, +6.2, +3.1 and +1.7 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Japan ($X) remains the largest hydrogen chloride supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising 45% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by India ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by South Korea, with an 8.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Japan amounted to +5.1%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: India (+3.2% per year) and South Korea (-5.7% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 2% against the previous year. Export price indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, hydrogen chloride export price increased by +65.0% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 37%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+14.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Asia-Pacific
Hydrogen chloride imports was estimated at X tons in 2021, with an increase of 7.5% on 2020 figures. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 44% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, hydrogen chloride imports reached $X in 2021. Total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +58.3% against 2012 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 19%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In 2021, Malaysia (X tons), distantly followed by South Korea (X tons), Vietnam (X tons) and Nepal (X tons) represented the largest importers of hydrogen chloride (hydrochloric acid), together achieving 68% of total imports. China (X tons), New Caledonia (X tons), Cambodia (X tons), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), New Zealand (X tons), Indonesia (X tons), Singapore (X tons), Myanmar (X tons) and Australia (X tons) held a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Cambodia (with a CAGR of +39.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($X), Taiwan (Chinese) ($X) and South Korea ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 67% of total imports. These countries were followed by Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, Cambodia, Nepal, Indonesia and Myanmar, which together accounted for a further 26%.
Cambodia, with a CAGR of +33.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per ton, standing approx. at the previous year. In general, the import price saw a slight downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 46% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per ton), while Nepal ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
