Moreover, Singapore emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +17.0% from 2012-2021. Japan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Pakistan (-4.9%) and South Korea (-17.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of India, Singapore, Thailand and China increased by +25, +6.2, +3.1 and +1.7 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Japan ($X) remains the largest hydrogen chloride supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising 45% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by India ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by South Korea, with an 8.4% share.

These countries were followed by Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, Cambodia, Nepal, Indonesia and Myanmar, which together accounted for a further 26%.

Cambodia, with a CAGR of +33.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per ton, standing approx. at the previous year. In general, the import price saw a slight downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 46% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per ton), while Nepal ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
