For the third year in a row, the Asia-Pacific imines market recorded decline in sales value, which decreased by -24.7% to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, consumption recorded a perceptible descent. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the market remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, imines production shrank modestly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 23% against the previous year. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X. From 2017 to 2021, production growth remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports in Asia-Pacific

In 2021, overseas shipments of imines and their derivatives and salts thereof increased by 24% to X tons, rising for the fifth year in a row after two years of decline. Overall, exports recorded a strong increase. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, imines exports soared to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +94.6% against 2016 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, China (X tons) was the largest exporter of imines and their derivatives and salts thereof, comprising 58% of total exports. It was distantly followed by India (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons), together achieving a 34% share of total exports. Japan (X tons) and South Korea (X tons) took a relatively small share of total exports.

In 2021, China (X tons), Japan (X tons), South Korea (X tons), Singapore (X tons), Thailand (X tons), India (X tons), Australia (X tons), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), Vietnam (X tons), Pakistan (X tons), Malaysia (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons) represented the major importer of imines and their derivatives and salts thereof in Asia-Pacific, achieving 94% of total import.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Singapore (with a CAGR of +28.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
