In 2021, Indonesia (X tons), distantly followed by China (X tons), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), Thailand (X tons), Japan (X tons), Vietnam (X tons) and the Philippines (X tons) were the largest importers of inulin, together comprising 82% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Japan (with a CAGR of +19.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest inulin importing markets in Asia-Pacific were Indonesia ($X), China ($X) and Taiwan (Chinese) ($X), together accounting for 50% of total imports. Thailand, Japan, the Philippines and Vietnam lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 31%.

Among the main importing countries, Japan, with a CAGR of +18.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the import price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per ton, surging by 8.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a mild curtailment. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in the Philippines ($X per ton) and Japan ($X per ton), while Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per ton) and Vietnam ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
