From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by India (with a CAGR of +46.8%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
In value terms, Japan ($X) remains the largest iodine, fluorine and bromine supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising 72% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by India ($X), with a 21% share of total exports.
In Japan, iodine, fluorine and bromine exports increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: India (+26.5% per year) and China (-5.7% per year).

It was distantly followed by India (X tons), creating a 17% share of total imports. The following importers - Singapore (X tons) and Japan (X tons) - together made up 5.2% of total imports.
Imports into China increased at an average annual rate of +11.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Singapore (+75.1%) and India (+5.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Singapore emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +75.1% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Japan (-5.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. China (+9.2 p.p.) and Singapore (+3.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Japan and India saw its share reduced by -4.4% and -6.9% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
In value terms, China ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported iodine, fluorine and bromine in Asia-Pacific, comprising 70% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by India ($X), with a 22% share of total imports. It was followed by Singapore, with a 2.6% share.
In China, iodine, fluorine and bromine imports increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (-1.4% per year) and Singapore (+42.4% per year).
