In 2022, shipments abroad of lamp holders, plugs and sockets increased by 8.9% to X tons, rising for the seventh consecutive year after two years of decline. Overall, exports recorded resilient growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 152%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, lamp holder exports fell to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +62.5% against 2012 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 26%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then dropped in the following year.
Exports by Country
China prevails in exports structure, amounting to X tons, which was near 84% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Japan (X tons), making up a 5.1% share of total exports. South Korea (X tons), Thailand (X tons) and Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to lamp holder exports from China stood at +8.5%. At the same time, Thailand (+31.6%), Japan (+24.0%), Taiwan (Chinese) (+4.5%) and South Korea (+2.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Thailand emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +31.6% from 2012-2022. China (+16 p.p.), Japan (+4 p.p.) and Thailand (+1.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while South Korea saw its share reduced by -1.5% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest lamp holder supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising 51% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by South Korea ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Japan, with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in China totaled +7.9%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: South Korea (+7.8% per year) and Japan (+14.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per ton, declining by -13.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a slight slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 89% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per ton), while China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+5.6%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Asia-Pacific
In 2022, the amount of lamp holders, plugs and sockets imported in Asia-Pacific declined markedly to X tons, falling by -19.9% against 2021 figures. In general, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 31%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then declined sharply in the following year.

Imports by Country
Malaysia was the key importer of lamp holders, plugs and sockets in Asia-Pacific, with the volume of imports reaching X tons, which was approx. 35% of total imports in 2022. The Philippines (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with an 8.2% share, followed by Taiwan (Chinese) (7.5%), Indonesia (7.1%), Japan (6.4%), South Korea (5.9%), Hong Kong SAR (5.6%), India (5.5%) and Vietnam (5%).
Malaysia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the lamp holders, plugs and sockets imports, with a CAGR of +27.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, the Philippines (+19.0%), Vietnam (+17.3%), Taiwan (Chinese) (+12.9%), Indonesia (+11.6%) and Japan (+10.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, India (-5.3%), South Korea (-11.3%) and Hong Kong SAR (-14.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Malaysia (+31 p.p.), the Philippines (+6.7 p.p.), Taiwan (Chinese) (+5.2 p.p.), Indonesia (+4.6 p.p.), Japan (+4 p.p.) and Vietnam (+3.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while India, South Korea and Hong Kong SAR saw its share reduced by -4.6%, -15% and -24.1% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, Taiwan (Chinese) ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported lamp holders, plugs and sockets in Asia-Pacific, comprising 21% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Vietnam ($X), with a 9.7% share of total imports. It was followed by India, with an 8.1% share.
In Taiwan (Chinese), lamp holder imports expanded at an average annual rate of +22.4% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Vietnam (+16.4% per year) and India (+5.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per ton, surging by 2.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the import price increased by 24%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per ton), while Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
