China was the key exporter of machines for preparing, weaving and knitting textiles in Asia-Pacific, with the volume of exports recording X units, which was near 73% of total exports in 2021. In terms of the main exporting countries, India, with a CAGR of +12.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per unit, declining by -9.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 4.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per unit), while Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (-1.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2021, purchases abroad of machines for preparing, weaving and knitting textiles was finally on the rise to reach X units after three years of decline. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a pronounced decline. Vietnam (X units) held a 10% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Pakistan (7.7%) and Indonesia (7.2%). Taiwan (Chinese) (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Vietnam (with a CAGR of +10.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($X), India ($X) and Pakistan ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 72% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Bangladesh, Vietnam, Indonesia and Taiwan (Chinese), which together accounted for a further 20%.
Vietnam, with a CAGR of +9.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per unit in 2021, waning by -4.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 14% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit, and then dropped modestly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per unit), while Indonesia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+8.3%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
