Among the main exporting countries, Fiji, with a CAGR of +241.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per ton in 2022, increasing by 12% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +5.6%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the export price increased by 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, major exporting countries recorded the following prices: in Indonesia ($X per ton) and Fiji ($X per ton), while India ($X per ton) and Thailand ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 24% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, molasse imports contracted to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +65.5% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 34%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2021, and then shrank modestly in the following year.

In 2022, the Philippines (X tons), distantly followed by South Korea (X tons), Vietnam (X tons), Thailand (X tons), Japan (X tons), Indonesia (X tons) and Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) were the major importers of molasses, together making up 97% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by the Philippines (with a CAGR of +32.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest molasse importing markets in Asia-Pacific were the Philippines ($X), South Korea ($X) and Vietnam ($X), together accounting for 71% of total imports.
