Exports in Asia-Pacific
In 2021, the amount of motorcycles and bicycles exported in Asia-Pacific surged to X units, with an increase of 15% against 2020. Total exports indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +30.9% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 105% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, motorcycle and bicycle exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +102.3% against 2014 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
China dominates exports structure, finishing at X units, which was near 82% of total exports in 2021. India (X units), Japan (X units), Taiwan (Chinese) (X units) and Cambodia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from China increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, India (+12.9%) and Cambodia (+4.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, India emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +12.9% from 2012-2021. Japan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Taiwan (Chinese) (-10.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. China (+5.3 p.p.) and India (+2.3 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Japan and Taiwan (Chinese) saw its share reduced by -1.5% and -6.7% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest motorcycle and bicycle supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising 52% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by India ($X), with a 9% share of total exports. It was followed by Taiwan (Chinese), with an 8.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in China totaled +8.1%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: India (+9.6% per year) and Taiwan (Chinese) (+2.3% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 20% against the previous year. Export price indicated a noticeable increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the export price increased by 68% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per unit), while China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+13.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Asia-Pacific
Motorcycle and bicycle imports surged to X units in 2021, growing by 38% on the year before. Total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +28.3% against 2018 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, motorcycle and bicycle imports soared to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
The purchases of the three major importers of motorcycles and bicycles, namely Pakistan, the Philippines and Japan, represented more than half of total import. India (X units) took an 8.7% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Malaysia (5.1%) and Australia (5%). The following importers - Vietnam (X units), Thailand (X units), South Korea (X units), Indonesia (X units), Nepal (X units), Singapore (X units) and Hong Kong SAR (X units) - together made up 20% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for India (with a CAGR of +94.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest motorcycle and bicycle importing markets in Asia-Pacific were the Philippines ($X), Japan ($X) and Australia ($X), with a combined 48% share of total imports. These countries were followed by South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Nepal, Hong Kong SAR, Singapore, Indonesia, India and Pakistan, which together accounted for a further 29%.
Among the main importing countries, India, with a CAGR of +25.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per unit, waning by -9.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the import price increased by 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($X per unit), while Pakistan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+7.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
