Vietnam (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Thailand (X tons) and Japan (X tons). All these countries together took near 19% share of total exports. India (X tons), South Korea (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons) held a minor share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to twine, cordage or textile net exports from China stood at +8.5%. At the same time, Malaysia (+12.5%), India (+8.8%), Vietnam (+6.0%), Thailand (+3.3%) and Japan (+2.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. In 2021, the export price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -1.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a slight descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 6.2% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2021, the the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while Japan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 8.9%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 6.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Japan (X tons) and South Korea (X tons) represented roughly 38% of total imports in 2021. Malaysia (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with an 11% share, followed by Indonesia (10%), Vietnam (6%) and India (5.9%). The Philippines (X tons), Australia (X tons), Thailand (X tons), China (X tons), Pakistan (X tons) and Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in the Philippines (with a CAGR of +39.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Japan ($X), South Korea ($X) and Malaysia ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 50% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Vietnam, Australia, Indonesia, India, Thailand, China, Taiwan (Chinese), Pakistan and the Philippines, which together accounted for a further 40%.
The Philippines, with a CAGR of +22.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per ton in 2021, approximately reflecting the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a mild descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the import price increased by 6.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Australia ($X per ton), while the Philippines ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
