Over the period under review, production recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the production volume increased by 11%. As a result, production attained the peak level of $X. From 2014 to 2022, production of growth failed to regain momentum.

Exports of non-cellular plates, sheets, film, foil and strip of plastics fell to X tons in 2022, with a decrease of -3.1% against the previous year. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 14% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2021, and then dropped modestly in the following year.
In value terms, exports of non-cellular plates, sheets, film, foil and strip of plastics declined to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 14% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then contracted slightly in the following year.
Exports by Country
China represented the key exporting country with an export of about X tons, which accounted for 46% of total exports. South Korea (X tons) held a 16% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by India (11%) and Taiwan (Chinese) (7.8%). The following exporters - Vietnam (X tons), Japan (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons) - together made up 11% of total exports.
Exports from China increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Vietnam (+11.3%), India (+4.9%) and Malaysia (+1.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Vietnam emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +11.3% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Japan (-1.1%), Taiwan (Chinese) (-2.1%) and South Korea (-4.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of China, India and Vietnam increased by +15, +2.9 and +2.6 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest non-cellular plates, sheets, film, foil and strip of plastics supplying countries in Asia-Pacific were China ($X), Japan ($X) and South Korea ($X), together comprising 68% of total exports. Taiwan (Chinese), India, Vietnam and Malaysia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 24%.
Among the main exporting countries, Vietnam, with a CAGR of +11.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per ton, waning by -1.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the export price increased by 7.8%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+2.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of non-cellular plates, sheets, film, foil and strip of plastics increased by 7.4% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 13%. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, imports of non-cellular plates, sheets, film, foil and strip of plastics rose modestly to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Indonesia (X tons), India (X tons), Vietnam (X tons), South Korea (X tons) and Thailand (X tons) represented roughly 58% of total imports in 2022. Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) took a 6% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by the Philippines (5.8%), China (5.7%), Australia (5.7%) and Japan (5.1%).
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Vietnam (with a CAGR of +15.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest non-cellular plates, sheets, film, foil and strip of plastics importing markets in Asia-Pacific were China ($X), Taiwan (Chinese) ($X) and Vietnam ($X), with a combined 40% share of total imports.
Vietnam, with a CAGR of +14.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per ton in 2022, declining by -5.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a slight curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 6.2%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while Indonesia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+5.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
