In value terms, non-electrical lamp production declined slightly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. The total output value increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production hit record highs at $X in 2020, and then reduced modestly in the following year.

In 2021, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in shipments abroad of non-electrical lamps and lighting fittings, when their volume increased by 36% to X units. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible shrinkage. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, non-electrical lamp exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a mild decline. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

China prevails in exports structure, resulting at X units, which was near 95% of total exports in 2021. India (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from China decreased at an average annual rate of -3.3% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, India (+9.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, India emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +9.5% from 2012-2021. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest non-electrical lamp supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising 91% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by India ($X), with a 3.9% share of total exports.

In China, non-electrical lamp exports decreased by an average annual rate of -1.5% over the period from 2012-2021.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per unit in 2021, with an increase of 15% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the export price increased by 21%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per unit), while China totaled $X per unit.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+2.0%).

In 2021, supplies from abroad of non-electrical lamps and lighting fittings increased by 22% to X units, rising for the third consecutive year after two years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 25% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Thailand prevails in imports structure, reaching X units, which was approx. 53% of total imports in 2021. Malaysia (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with an 8.1% share, followed by Australia (7.2%) and India (6.6%). The following importers - Indonesia (X units), Japan (X units), South Korea (X units), Singapore (X units), Vietnam (X units) and Cambodia (X units) - together made up 18% of total imports.

Thailand was also the fastest-growing in terms of the non-electrical lamps and lighting fittings imports, with a CAGR of +28.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Cambodia (+24.1%), Malaysia (+14.7%), Japan (+4.7%), South Korea (+4.2%) and Vietnam (+2.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. India experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Indonesia (-4.8%), Singapore (-8.4%) and Australia (-15.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Thailand (+46 p.p.) and Malaysia (+5 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of India (-1.7 p.p.), Indonesia (-4.3 p.p.), Singapore (-5 p.p.) and Australia (-35 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Japan ($X), Australia ($X) and India ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 43% share of total imports. Thailand, South Korea, Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and Cambodia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 42%.

Cambodia, with a CAGR of +23.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per unit in 2021, with an increase of 11% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a mild setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 16%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per unit), while Thailand ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+11.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
