Paper File Cover Market Size in Asia-Pacific
In 2022, the Asia-Pacific paper file cover market decreased by -1% to $X, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. Over the period under review, consumption, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the market value increased by 8.9% against the previous year. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the market remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Paper File Cover Production in Asia-Pacific
In value terms, paper file cover production declined slightly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the production volume increased by 9.1%. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X. From 2017 to 2022, production growth failed to regain momentum.

Exports in Asia-Pacific
In 2022, overseas shipments of paper binders, folders and file covers increased by 6.5% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. Overall, exports, however, showed a perceptible downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, paper file cover exports rose to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 26% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
In 2022, China (X tons) represented the largest exporter of paper binders, folders and file covers, achieving 60% of total exports. Vietnam (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Malaysia (X tons) and India (X tons). All these countries together took near 33% share of total exports. The following exporters - Indonesia (X tons) and Thailand (X tons) - each amounted to a 5.6% share of total exports.
Exports from China decreased at an average annual rate of -5.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, India (+24.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, India emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +24.3% from 2012-2022. Thailand and Vietnam experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Indonesia (-1.6%) and Malaysia (-7.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. India (+7.1 p.p.) and Vietnam (+4.1 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Malaysia and China saw its share reduced by -5.3% and -6.7% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest paper file cover supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising 62% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Vietnam ($X), with a 19% share of total exports. It was followed by Malaysia, with a 7.1% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in China stood at -3.1%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Vietnam (-1.7% per year) and Malaysia (-10.4% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per ton in 2022, dropping by -4.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the export price increased by 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2021, and then shrank modestly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per ton), while Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+2.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Asia-Pacific
In 2022, after nine years of decline, there was growth in supplies from abroad of paper binders, folders and file covers, when their volume increased by 3.3% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a deep reduction. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, paper file cover imports totaled $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a abrupt shrinkage. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Japan represented the major importer of paper binders, folders and file covers in Asia-Pacific, with the volume of imports reaching X tons, which was approx. 59% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Australia (X tons), generating an 11% share of total imports. The following importers - Malaysia (X tons), Singapore (X tons), Hong Kong SAR (X tons), Pakistan (X tons), New Zealand (X tons) and South Korea (X tons) - together made up 17% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to paper file cover imports into Japan stood at -4.8%. At the same time, Pakistan (+20.4%), South Korea (+4.2%) and Malaysia (+3.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Pakistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +20.4% from 2012-2022. By contrast, New Zealand (-4.7%), Singapore (-9.7%), Australia (-10.8%) and Hong Kong SAR (-11.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Japan (+7.7 p.p.), Malaysia (+2.4 p.p.) and Pakistan (+2.2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Singapore, Hong Kong SAR and Australia saw its share reduced by -1.6%, -2.4% and -7.6% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
