The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 25% against the previous year. The level of yield peaked at X tons per ha in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the yield stood at a somewhat lower figure. Indonesia (X tons) held a 9.2% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by India (6.1%). Sri Lanka (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Vietnam was also the fastest-growing in terms of the piper pepper exports, with a CAGR of +7.8% from 2012 to 2022. Sri Lanka experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. India (-3.7%), Malaysia (-6.6%) and Indonesia (-7.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Vietnam increased by +29 percentage points.
