China (X units) took a 12% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Malaysia (8.4%) and Japan (6.7%). Hong Kong SAR (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Indonesia increased at an average annual rate of +13.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Malaysia (+42.5%), China (+14.6%) and Japan (+9.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Hong Kong SAR (-21.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Indonesia (+33 p.p.), Malaysia (+7.8 p.p.), China (+6.5 p.p.) and Japan (+2.2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Hong Kong SAR saw its share reduced by -29.1% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Japan ($X) remains the largest disc pick-up cartridge supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising 53% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Indonesia ($X), with a 26% share of total exports. It was followed by Malaysia, with an 8.7% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Japan stood at +12.1%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Indonesia (+15.2% per year) and Malaysia (+32.2% per year).

The export price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per unit in 2021, surging by 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a slight curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 100%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

In general, imports, however, showed a perceptible shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 93% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
