The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +88.5% against 2012 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, non-cellular polyethylene film exports soared to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +65.0% against 2016 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
China was the key exporter of non-cellular polyethylene films, sheets, foil and strip in Asia-Pacific, with the volume of exports accounting for X tons, which was near 48% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Malaysia (X tons), Thailand (X tons), Japan (X tons) and South Korea (X tons), together making up a 37% share of total exports. Vietnam (X tons) and India (X tons) took a little share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to non-cellular polyethylene film exports from China stood at +11.3%. In 2021, the export price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per ton, surging by 12% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +59.4% against 2012 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 9.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
In value terms, non-cellular polyethylene film imports stood at $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 8.5% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
