The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

China prevails in imports structure, finishing at X tons, which was near 55% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by India (X tons), Hong Kong SAR (X tons), Japan (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons), together creating a 27% share of total imports. The following importers - Thailand (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons) - together made up 6.6% of total imports.

Imports into China increased at an average annual rate of +7.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Vietnam (+18.0%), Japan (+9.2%), India (+8.4%) and Malaysia (+6.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Vietnam emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +18.0% from 2012-2021. Thailand experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Hong Kong SAR (-4.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of China (+9.5 p.p.), Vietnam (+3.3 p.p.), India (+1.8 p.p.) and Japan (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Thailand (-1.8 p.p.) and Hong Kong SAR (-10.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported polyacetals in primary forms in Asia-Pacific, comprising 54% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Hong Kong SAR ($X), with an 8.6% share of total imports. It was followed by India, with a 6.8% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in China totaled +6.5%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Hong Kong SAR (-4.1% per year) and India (+9.0% per year).
