In 2022, South Korea (X tons) and Singapore (X tons) were the main exporters of polymethyl methacrylate in primary forms in Asia-Pacific, together resulting at approx. 60% of total exports. Japan (X tons) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), China (X tons), Malaysia (X tons) and Thailand (X tons). In 2022, the export price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 3.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a mild setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 18% against the previous year. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 20% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then shrank in the following year.

Moreover, Singapore emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +38.3% from 2012-2022. Malaysia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Hong Kong SAR (-5.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Singapore, India and Japan increased by +9.1, +4.4 and +3.6 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported polymethyl methacrylate in primary forms in Asia-Pacific, comprising 48% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Singapore ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by India, with a 9.5% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in China amounted to -4.2%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Singapore (+36.2% per year) and India (+8.9% per year).
