The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The biggest shipments were from New Zealand (X tons), Australia (X tons) and China (X tons), together amounting to 75% of total export. India (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total exports with a 5.1% share, followed by Hong Kong SAR (4.8%). The following exporters - Malaysia (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons) - together made up 7% of total exports.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the export price increased by 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($X per ton), while India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to preserved cows meat imports into Hong Kong SAR stood at -7.4%. At the same time, China (+40.5%), the Philippines (+19.3%), Indonesia (+10.9%), Australia (+4.7%), South Korea (+2.5%) and Singapore (+2.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, China emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +40.5% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Japan (-3.7%) and New Zealand (-5.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Australia (+5.8 p.p.), the Philippines (+4.6 p.p.), Indonesia (+3.5 p.p.), China (+3.3 p.p.) and Singapore (+2.4 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Hong Kong SAR saw its share reduced by -22% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Hong Kong SAR ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported prepared or preserved meat or offal of bovine animals in Asia-Pacific, comprising 31% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Australia ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Japan, with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Hong Kong SAR amounted to -3.3%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Australia (+7.4% per year) and Japan (-6.0% per year).
