China (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by the Philippines (X tons). All these countries together took near 42% share of total exports. Thailand (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the Philippines (with a CAGR of +1,171.5%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Lao People's Democratic Republic ($X), China ($X) and the Philippines ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 91% share of total exports.

Among the main exporting countries, the Philippines, with a CAGR of +1,291.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of 9.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a perceptible descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 30%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while Lao People's Democratic Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Philippines (+9.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, purchases abroad of pyrites increased by 13% to X tons, rising for the fourth consecutive year after four years of decline. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a perceptible shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 147%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, pyrites imports expanded notably to $X in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a measured expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 144%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

China prevails in imports structure, recording X tons, which was approx. 93% of total imports in 2022. The following importers - Japan (X tons) and Thailand (X tons) - each amounted to a 3.2% share of total imports.

Imports into China decreased at an average annual rate of -3.0% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Thailand (+34.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Thailand emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +34.5% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Japan (-5.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. China (-3.6 p.p.) significantly weakened its position in terms of the total imports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported pyrites in Asia-Pacific, comprising 88% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Japan ($X), with a 3.2% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in China amounted to +3.7%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Japan (-2.5% per year) and Thailand (+26.1% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per ton in 2022, approximately reflecting the previous year. Import price indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the last decade. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 39% against the previous year.
