The export price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per ton in 2021, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 21%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+5.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Japan ($X), China ($X) and South Korea ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 70% share of total imports. Thailand, Indonesia, India, Taiwan (Chinese), the Philippines, Vietnam, Hong Kong SAR, Myanmar and Nepal lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 20%.

Nepal, with a CAGR of +84.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -15.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a mild decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 14%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while Nepal ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
