China represented the key exporting country with an export of around X units, which accounted for 57% of total exports. Thailand (X units) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by India (X units) and Malaysia (X units). All these countries together took near 39% share of total exports. Indonesia (X units) held a relatively small share of total exports.

Exports from China increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Indonesia (+23.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Indonesia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +23.9% from 2012-2022. India experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Thailand (-3.5%) and Malaysia (-14.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of China, India and Thailand increased by +27, +3.5 and +2.4 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Thailand ($X), China ($X) and Malaysia ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together accounting for 86% of total exports. Indonesia and India lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 10%.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Indonesia, with a CAGR of +40.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per unit, reducing by -9.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the export price increased by 24%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($X per unit), while India ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Total imports indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, India (X units) represented the main importer of radio receivers for motor vehicles, comprising 67% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Japan (X units) and China (X units), together making up a 17% share of total imports. Thailand (X units), Indonesia (X units), Vietnam (X units) and Malaysia (X units) took a relatively small share of total imports.

Imports into India increased at an average annual rate of +8.1% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Vietnam (+14.2%), Japan (+6.8%) and China (+5.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Indonesia (-1.3%) and Thailand (-8.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of India (+29 p.p.) and Japan (+4 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Thailand (-6.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, India ($X), Japan ($X) and Indonesia ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together comprising 71% of total imports. China, Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 20%.

Among the main importing countries, Vietnam, with a CAGR of +16.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -32.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the import price increased by 34%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
