The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the production volume increased by 27% against the previous year. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X. From 2021 to 2022, production growth remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The countries with the highest volumes of production in 2022 were Vietnam (X tons), Papua New Guinea (X tons) and Bangladesh (X tons), with a combined 74% share of total production.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of production, amongst the leading producing countries, was attained by Bangladesh (with a CAGR of +11.7%), while production for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry yield skyrocketed to X tons per ha in 2022, jumping by 18% against 2021 figures. In general, the yield, however, continues to indicate a slight contraction. The level of yield peaked at X tons per ha in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the yield remained at a lower figure. Despite the increased use of modern agricultural techniques and methods, future yield figures may still be impacted by adverse weather conditions.

In 2022, approx. X ha of raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries were harvested in Asia-Pacific; with a decrease of -15.6% on the previous year's figure. The total harvested area indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2022: its figure increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry harvested area increased by +29.6% against 2017 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the harvested area increased by 45% against the previous year. As a result, the harvested area reached the peak level of X ha, and then shrank significantly in the following year.

In 2022, after six years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries, when their volume decreased by -8.6% to X tons. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 81% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry exports declined to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 75%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2021, and then shrank modestly in the following year.

Exports by Country

Hong Kong SAR dominates exports structure, reaching X tons, which was approx. 85% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by New Zealand (X tons), creating an 8.4% share of total exports. Australia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Hong Kong SAR was also the fastest-growing in terms of the raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries exports, with a CAGR of +52.1% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Australia (+19.5%) and New Zealand (+5.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. While the share of Hong Kong SAR (+71 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Australia (-1.7 p.p.) and New Zealand (-47.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Hong Kong SAR ($X) remains the largest raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising 68% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by New Zealand ($X), with a 22% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Hong Kong SAR stood at +55.8%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: New Zealand (+9.5% per year) and Australia (+26.6% per year).

The export price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of 7.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a slight slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 29%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In general, imports recorded a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 43%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

In value terms, China ($X), Hong Kong SAR ($X) and Singapore ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together comprising 80% of total imports.

China, with a CAGR of +49.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per ton in 2022, approximately mirroring the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a noticeable slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the import price increased by 7.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
