Exports from China decreased at an average annual rate of -7.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, the Philippines (+32.2%), Pakistan (+12.5%) and Indonesia (+1.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Philippines emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +32.2% from 2012-2021. By contrast, India (-3.0%), Bangladesh (-6.1%) and Australia (-7.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the Philippines (+12 p.p.), India (+2 p.p.) and Pakistan (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of China (-17.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X), the Philippines ($X) and Bangladesh ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 81% share of total exports.

The Philippines, with a CAGR of +28.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 14% against the previous year. Export price indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +10.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, export price for refractory products of siliceous or diatomite earths increased by +50.3% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the export price increased by 126%. The second position in the ranking was held by China ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Malaysia, with an 8.8% share.
