The level of export peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
New Zealand dominates exports structure, accounting for X cubic meters, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2022. Papua New Guinea (X cubic meters) held an X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Solomon Islands (X%). Japan (X cubic meters) and Australia (X cubic meters) took a little share of total exports.
New Zealand experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of roundwood. At the same time, Solomon Islands (X%) and Japan (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Solomon Islands emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. Papua New Guinea experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Australia (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. New Zealand (X p.p.), Solomon Islands (X p.p.), Japan (X p.p.) and Papua New Guinea (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Australia saw its share reduced by X% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, New Zealand ($X) remains the largest roundwood supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Papua New Guinea ($X), with an X% share of total exports. It was followed by Solomon Islands, with a X% share.
In New Zealand, roundwood exports expanded at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Papua New Guinea (X% per year) and Solomon Islands (X% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per cubic meter in 2022, surging by X% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of X%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the export price increased by X%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Papua New Guinea ($X per cubic meter), while New Zealand ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

Japan (X cubic meters) ranks second in terms of the total imports with an X% share, followed by India (X%) and South Korea (X%). The following importers - Vietnam (X cubic meters) and Lao People's Democratic Republic (X cubic meters) - together made up X% of total imports.
Imports into China decreased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Lao People's Democratic Republic (X%), Vietnam (X%) and India (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Lao People's Democratic Republic emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. By contrast, South Korea (X%) and Japan (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. India (X p.p.), Vietnam (X p.p.) and Lao People's Democratic Republic (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Japan and China saw its share reduced by X% and X% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
