In value terms, safflower seed exports declined remarkably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a noticeable descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 87%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

India dominates exports structure, finishing at X tons, which was approx. 93% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by China (X tons), making up a 4.6% share of total exports. Afghanistan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from India decreased at an average annual rate of -11.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Afghanistan (+58.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Afghanistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +58.1% from 2012-2022. By contrast, China (-24.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of India (+93 p.p.) and Afghanistan (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of China (-31.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, India ($X) remains the largest safflower seed supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising 89% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by China ($X), with a 7.4% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in India totaled -10.2%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: China (-19.9% per year) and Afghanistan (+44.9% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per ton, rising by 19% against the previous year.
