Exports from China decreased at an average annual rate of -1.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Vietnam (+17.8%) and Bangladesh (+15.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Vietnam emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +17.8% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Indonesia (-3.7%) and Hong Kong SAR (-9.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Bangladesh (+4.3 p.p.) and Vietnam (+4.1 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Hong Kong SAR (-3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest sewing thread supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising 73% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Bangladesh ($X), with a 5.8% share of total exports. It was followed by Hong Kong SAR, with a 5.5% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in China was relatively modest. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Bangladesh (+10.9% per year) and Hong Kong SAR (-4.7% per year).
