Over the period under review, imports recorded buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 54%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, cellulose fibrecement sheet imports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, imports enjoyed a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 43%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Moreover, Myanmar emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +40.1% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Lao People's Democratic Republic (-12.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of the Philippines, New Zealand, Myanmar, Pakistan and Nepal increased by +42, +5.8, +2.1, +1.7 and +1.5 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest cellulose fibrecement sheet importing markets in Asia-Pacific were the Philippines ($X), New Zealand ($X) and Australia ($X), together comprising 56% of total imports.
