Total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +81.1% against 2016 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

India (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 22% share, followed by Japan (6.2%) and Vietnam (6%). The following importers - Pakistan (X tons), Australia (X tons), Thailand (X tons), Indonesia (X tons), the Philippines (X tons) and Bangladesh (X tons) - together made up 19% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Pakistan (with a CAGR of +18.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Hong Kong SAR ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported statuettes and other ornamental articles of plastic in Asia-Pacific, comprising 52% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Japan ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Vietnam, with a 6.3% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Hong Kong SAR amounted to +17.7%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Japan (-2.5% per year) and Vietnam (+12.3% per year).
