Japan prevails in exports structure, amounting to X tons, which was near 93% of total exports in 2022. The following exporters - India (X tons) and South Korea (X tons) - each amounted to a 5.8% share of total exports.

Japan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the sulphur exports, with a CAGR of +44.5% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, India (+23.8%) and South Korea (+3.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Japan increased by +51 percentage points.

In value terms, Japan ($X) remains the largest sulphur supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising 90% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by India ($X), with a 6.6% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Japan totaled +45.3%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: India (+29.2% per year) and South Korea (-2.8% per year).

The export price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 3.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a mild decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the export price increased by 17%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while South Korea ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+4.4%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

In 2022, approx. X tons of sulphur were imported in Asia-Pacific; with a decrease of -55.4% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a slight reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 130% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then declined remarkably in the following year.

China represented the main importing country with an import of around X tons, which resulted at 60% of total imports. Indonesia (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by India (X tons) and Australia (X tons). All these countries together held near 32% share of total imports. New Caledonia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to sulphur imports into China stood at -3.7%. At the same time, Indonesia (+18.5%) and New Caledonia (+14.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Indonesia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +18.5% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Australia (-1.2%) and India (-2.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Indonesia increased by +12 percentage points.
