Over the period under review, consumption, however, saw a resilient expansion. As a result, consumption attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The total production indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, production decreased by -1.6% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 40% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production hit record highs at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, production failed to regain momentum.

Exports in Asia-Pacific

In 2022, overseas shipments of teleferics, chair-lifts, ski-draglines and traction mechanisms for funiculars were finally on the rise to reach X units after seven years of decline. In general, exports, however, saw a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 91% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, teleferics and chair-lifts exports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 28%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

China represented the major exporter of teleferics, chair-lifts, ski-draglines and traction mechanisms for funiculars in Asia-Pacific, with the volume of exports amounting to X units, which was near 68% of total exports in 2022. Taiwan (Chinese) (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 15% share, followed by Thailand (7.3%) and India (4.9%). The following exporters - Australia (X units) and South Korea (X units) - each accounted for a 4.9% share of total exports.

China was also the fastest-growing in terms of the teleferics, chair-lifts, ski-draglines and traction mechanisms for funiculars exports, with a CAGR of +5.1% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Thailand (+4.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. India experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest teleferics and chair-lifts supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising 50% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by India ($X), with a 21% share of total exports. It was followed by Australia, with a 12% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in China stood at -3.9%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: India (+7.1% per year) and Australia (-2.8% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per unit, with a decrease of -31.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a noticeable contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the export price increased by 36%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per unit), while Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+26.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Asia-Pacific

Teleferics and chair-lifts imports shrank markedly to X units in 2022, reducing by -44.9% against the previous year's figure. In general, imports, however, recorded strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 649% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, teleferics and chair-lifts imports contracted notably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 153%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Singapore (X units) was the key importer of teleferics, chair-lifts, ski-draglines and traction mechanisms for funiculars, making up 68% of total imports. New Zealand (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Vietnam (X units). All these countries together held near 18% share of total imports. South Korea (X units), China (X units) and Thailand (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Singapore was also the fastest-growing in terms of the teleferics, chair-lifts, ski-draglines and traction mechanisms for funiculars imports, with a CAGR of +34.3% from 2012 to 2022. In value terms, the largest teleferics and chair-lifts importing markets in Asia-Pacific were South Korea ($X), Vietnam ($X) and China ($X), together accounting for 80% of total imports. Singapore, New Zealand and Thailand lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 2.4%.

New Zealand, with a CAGR of +10.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per unit in 2022, increasing by 54% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 86%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
