Exports from China increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, India (+10.7%) and Thailand (+5.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, India emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +10.7% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of India increased by +2.2 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest tooth brush supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising 72% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by India ($X), with a 7.4% share of total exports.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 15%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports into China increased at an average annual rate of +18.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, the Philippines (+20.8%), Taiwan (Chinese) (+12.5%), India (+5.0%), Vietnam (+3.6%), Australia (+3.4%), South Korea (+2.1%) and Thailand (+2.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Philippines emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +20.8% from 2012-2022. Japan and Hong Kong SAR experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2012 to 2022, the share of China, the Philippines and Taiwan (Chinese) increased by +16, +6 and +3.5 percentage points, respectively. In value terms, Japan ($X), South Korea ($X) and China ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 44% share of total imports. Australia, Thailand, the Philippines, Hong Kong SAR, Vietnam, Taiwan (Chinese) and India lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 41%.

In terms of the main importing countries, the Philippines, with a CAGR of +21.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per unit, falling by -8.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 8.2% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit, and then shrank in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($X per unit), while India ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hong Kong SAR (+8.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
