The level of production peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, production remained at a lower figure.

Exports in Asia-Pacific
In 2021, exports of unvulcanised rubber in Asia-Pacific skyrocketed to X tons, growing by 20% on 2020. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when exports increased by 26% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, unvulcanised rubber exports soared to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, saw a noticeable decrease. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Thailand was the major exporting country with an export of about X tons, which reached 39% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Japan (X tons), Malaysia (X tons), South Korea (X tons), Indonesia (X tons) and China (X tons), together achieving a 56% share of total exports.
Exports from Thailand decreased at an average annual rate of -5.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, China (+16.8%), Malaysia (+11.1%), South Korea (+6.3%) and Japan (+2.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, China emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +16.8% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Indonesia (-1.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Malaysia, South Korea, China and Japan increased by +8.4, +5.4, +4.5 and +3.8 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest unvulcanised rubber supplying countries in Asia-Pacific were Thailand ($X), Japan ($X) and South Korea ($X), with a combined 70% share of total exports. Malaysia, Indonesia and China lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 23%.
China, with a CAGR of +12.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a mild reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the export price increased by 18%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (-1.4%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Asia-Pacific
In 2021, approx. X tons of unvulcanised rubber were imported in Asia-Pacific; rising by 16% against the previous year. Overall, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 18%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, unvulcanised rubber imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a pronounced decrease. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, India (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main importers of unvulcanised rubber in Asia-Pacific, together accounting for near 59% of total imports. Vietnam (X tons) held an 11% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Thailand (7.5%) and Australia (5.6%). The following importers - Indonesia (X tons) and Japan (X tons) - each reached a 6% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by India (with a CAGR of +31.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest unvulcanised rubber importing markets in Asia-Pacific were China ($X), India ($X) and Vietnam ($X), together accounting for 71% of total imports.
Among the main importing countries, India, with a CAGR of +25.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per ton, growing by 2.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a pronounced reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 11%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
